The Michigan State Spartans are projected as the No. 1 team in college basketball in Ken Pomeroy's preseason rankings for the 2019-20 season.

With college basketball season just around the corner, KenPom's first set of ratings posted on Sunday morning with Tom Izzo's squad sitting at the top.

Kentucky, Duke, Louisville, and Virginia rounded out the top five, with Purdue, Villanova, Kansas, and Gonzaga all in the top 10 in the rankings heading into the season.

It's no surprise to see Michigan State leading the way in KenPom's first batch of rankings, as Izzo has a loaded roster that includes Cassius Winston, who should be one of the best players in the country again this season after earning First Team All-American honors a season ago.

The Spartans are set to tip off the new season on Nov. 5 in a Champions Classic showdown against Kentucky.
