Microsoft surprised fans earlier this week after announcing that the Xbox Series X is the “official console” for Battlefield 2042.

This seemed to be the next stage in Microsoft's partnership with EA and Dice. This isn't the case however as they have just announced that Battlefield 2042 won't be exclusive to Xbox Series consoles. This was also confirmed in a tweet by Xbox Senior Marketing Manager John Munsee. He also stated that this partnership was more about marketing and branding rather than exclusivity.

News about Battlefield 2042 broke out during the Microsoft reveal event at E3 and it seems as though EA had partnered with Microsoft to some degree to market the upcoming game.

The press release didn't offer much information apart from the fact that this will be the franchise's “best one yet”. And apparently, this is only one of five major partnerships EA and DICE have joined for Battlefield 2042. The other four partners are NVIDIA, Logitech, Polaris, and WD_BLACK.

Because of the lax of information given in the press release, fans got confused as to what the partnership was going to bring to the table. Is the game going to be released on the Xbox Game Pass at launch? Will Xbox players get early access or exclusive content? Battlefield 2042 Xbox Skin? At this point, anything is possible.
