Miesha Tate’s net worth in 2021 is $6 million. This is according to multiple reputable outlets such as Celebrity Net Worth.

Miesha Tate was born in Tacoma, Washington where she attended high school at Franklin Pierce High School. She chose amateur wrestling over other sports and she wrestled on the boys’ team from her freshman year to graduation.

In her senior year, she competed in the girls’ state championship and won the title.

Before going professional, Tate had an amateur MMA record of 5 wins and 1 loss.

She then made her professional MMA debut at the HOOKnSHOOT: BodogFIGHT 2007 Women’s Tournament. She won her first match in the tournament quarterfinal against Jan Finney via decision but lost in the semifinal against Kaitlin Young via knockout.

After her defeat, Tate stringed five straight victories across different MMA promotions such as Strikeforce, CageSport MMA, Freestyle Cage Fighting, and Atlas Fights.

The last match of her five-win streak was for the FCF Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Tate faced Lizbeth Carreiro at Freestyle Cage Fighting 30 where she won in the 3rd round via submission.

Miesha Tate successfully defended the FCF Women’s Bantamweight title once at Freestyle Cage Fighting 38.

After her stint with the FCF, Tate became a regular at Strikeforce. Prior to this, she only had two matches with the promotion.

On August 13, 2010, Miesha Tate was included in a one-night Strikeforce Women’s tournament at Strikeforce Challengers: Riggs vs Taylor wherein a draw was held during the weigh-ins to determine the first set of matches.

Miesha Tate dominated the tournament as she cruised through Maiju Kujala and Hitomi Akano to win the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Tournament. All of her wins were via decision.

She was then scheduled to challenge Marloes Coenen for the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship at Strikeforce: Fedor vs Henderson. The fight went onto the 4th round before Tate secured an arm-triangle choke to force submission and she was named the new Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Tate’s first title defense was a highly publicized one as she was set to face the up-and-coming Ronda Rousey.

Tate said that Rousey did not earn a title shot and she got the opportunity because of being pretty. Rousey then fired back claiming that she was bored while watching Tate’s championship win over Coenen.

Both fighters eventually headlined their event titled Strikeforce: Tate vs Rousey on March 3, 2012, a then-rare occurrence that women headlined an MMA card.

After an entertaining back-and-forth matchup, Rousey secured her signature armbar at the end of the 1st round which caused Tate to submit and subsequently lose the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship.

Tate fought one more match under the Strikeforce promotion before joining the UFC on February 13. She was scheduled to have her first UFC match against Cat Zingano where the winner will receive a title shot against inaugural UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.

Unfortunately, Tate lost via TKO in the third round. However, Zingano pulled out of the title bout against Rousey due to injury and was eventually replaced by Tate.

A rematch between Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey was set for UFC 168. The fight was one-sided on Rousey’s side as she defeated Tate via armbar in the 3rd round to defend her title. The match was awarded the Fight of the Night honors.

She then picked up her first win in the UFC when she faced Liz Carmouche. Tate won via unanimous decision. After four straight victories, Tate earned another shot at the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship — this time being held by Holly Holm.

It was a back-and-forth affair that saw both fighters displaying an advantage. Eventually, in the 5th round, Tate caught Holm in a rear-naked choke which forced the champion to tap out. Miesha Tate was then named the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Due to her performance, Tate won her first performance of the night award.

In her first title defense, Tate faced Amanda Nunes at UFC 200. However, Nunes was the more aggressive fighter as she barraged Tate with multiple strikes before finishing her with a rear-naked choke three minutes into the 1st round.

After a loss against Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate announced her retirement from mixed martial arts.

“I am announcing my retirement, you guys,” Tate said. “I love you all so much. I have been doing this for more than a decade. It is the right time.”

On March 24, 2021, Miesha Tate announced her return to the octagon to face Marion Reneau at UFC on ESPN: Makhachev vs. Moises. She won her return bout via TKO in the 3rd round, and she was also awarded her second Performance of the Night award.

She was then scheduled to fight Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night: Vieira vs Tate. Unfortunately, she lost the match via unanimous decision.
