Mike Brown is the well-respected coach at American Top Team and he works with some very big UFC fighters. That includes Amanda Nunes who many want to see fight Kayla Harrison someday.
They are currently teammates though and Kayla Harrison does not fight in the UFC. Mike Brown gave his take on the two potentially facing off.
“This is the dream fight people want to see,” Brown told MMA Junkie. “But this is the same team, same gym, not gonna happen I wouldn’t imagine. Different organizations, different trajectories, and there’s plenty to eat out there.”
Besides all the obstacles mentioned, Amanda Nunes does have her next bantamweight title defense set for UFC 269 against Julianna Pena. The UFC bantamweight title defense is more important than a proposed ‘dream fight.'
“Every fight is dangerous,” Brown said. “It’s hard when you’re in a situation like Amanda where everyone expects her to win because of her track record. It’s difficult because if you don’t just completely dominate, it almost – people look down upon it. But Pena is very legit, a very tough fight and has a bit of a different style. She’s a very strong grappler and a very dangerous opponent and somebody who’s not always easy to look good against.”
Kayla Harrison is still trying to figure out her future and it could be in the UFC. She recently shut down any interest in the WWE.
Amanda Nunes has hinted at retirement in the past and could retire from the UFC in the near future.
