After being named head coach of the Houston Rockets, Mike D'Antoni was impressed with the lineup of the team that he had to work with. With the amount of shooters he had on hand, he knew they will fit his style of play and could blossom in his system.

However, one player who left a mark on him is Corey Brewer, who was with Houston at the start of the season before getting dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline in February. Although he only played for him for a short time, D'Antoni recalls a play, via Tim Keown of ESPN, where the 31-year-old Florida product showed off his athleticism by attempting an in-game 360-dunk off the baseline. When he failed to throw it down, he then went to him and uttered what the veteran head coach thinks is the best line he's heard in basketball.

“After all these years, D’Antoni has a soft spot for guys like Harden: great players who are willing to give up pieces of themselves for the greater good. He’s also partial to unheralded guys who have overcome ridiculous odds, like Patrick Beverley, who got his professional start in unheated gyms in Ukraine. But there’s nothing D’Antoni loves more than a good story, which is why ex-Rocket Corey Brewer will forever have a place in D’Antoni lore. Early this season, Brewer, who was traded to the Lakers in late February, took a pass on the baseline, drove, spun, shook two defenders with a 360 and missed a point-blank shot at the rim. “Coach, I did my thing,” he told D’Antoni, “but then I got to the rim and just ran out of talent.” “Ran out of talent,” D’Antoni repeats. “Best line in the history of basketball.”

It is definitely one of the funnier stories shared by D'Antoni, and it was obvious he had a big reason not to forget about it for a long time. Brewer has been known for his ability to make highlight reel plays, especially during his early days in the league, and it could be that father time is catching up on him, causing him to fail on his dunk attempt. However, it's still amusing to find out he said the line to his former coach.

Even if the two are not working together anymore, D'Antoni still has unforgettable memory of Brewer, and something they could both recall and share a few laughs on even in the future.
