The Los Angeles Charges are visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, providing an opportunity to revisit a brief offseason spat between each team's top wide receiver – Mike Evans and Keenan Allen.

In July, the NFL Network released its countdown of the Top 100 players in the NFL. Chargers receiver Keenan Allen was not happy about his placement in the no. 77 spot. In a tweet venting his frustration about the list, he specifically cited Kansas City Chiefs wideout Tyreek Hill and Tampa's two receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, as examples of wideouts he felt were mistakenly listed ahead of him.

“Ok I’m tired of biten my tongue, @cheetah, @MikeEvans13_, @chrisgoodwin (and the list goes on) ARE NOT a better reciever than me! Faster than me every day of the week but separation. CHILD PLEASE!” Allen tweeted, tagging Hill and Evans and misspelling Goodwin’s name and Twitter handle.

In response to the tweet, Evans called out Allen's typo — and his general interest in the completely meaningless rankings.

Evans didn't care much about the rankings in the first place, nor the exchange with Allen. Ahead of Sunday's matchup between the Chargers and Buccaneers, Evans didn't even recall the midsummer Twitter back-and-forth and only had words of praise for Allen.

“I forgot about that,” Evans said, via the Tampa Bay Times. “No, Keenan, that’s my boy. He thinks he’s one of the best receivers in this league and he should. He’s a really great player. I like his game a lot. He’s a dog out there, too. He’s a little smaller than me, but he’ll be out there blocking and he plays real tough. Hopefully, we can shut him down and get a W.”

Regardless of ranking, both players, plus Godwin, are clearly amongst the best at their position, and they've shown that so far in 2020. Allen has 24 receptions for 265 yards in 2020, while Mike Evans (108 yards) is tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (four) in his first season with Tom Brady.

Godwin has been ruled out for Sunday's game as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury.
