The Milwaukee Bucks came into the 2022 NBA Draft needing to find players to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo with. Falling in the second round was a disappointing end to their season, even though they pushed it the distance and did it all without Khris Middleton. Milwaukee took a different route to make roster tweaks this offseason.

In years past, the Bucks have not placed a massive emphasis on the draft. The last time they drafted someone in the first round and kept them was Donte DiVincenzo in 2018. They have made moves for players in the second round, such as last year's move for Sandro Mamukelashvili and the prior year's selection of Jordan Nwora, but usually use their first-rounders in trades.

With their 24th overall pick and a trade for the last pick in the draft, Milwaukee found two youngsters who could be valuable contributors soon. The Bucks' draft grades show that they were able to find guys who have a real shot at helping out a contending team someday.

Bucks 2022 NBA Draft Grades

MarJon Beauchamp: B+

The Bucks used their first-round pick on MarJon Beauchamp, a guard from the G League Ignite. The 21-year-old has the athleticism and defense to not only fit in with Milwaukee but stand out.

In 12 games during the G League Ignite showcase, Beauchamp averaged 15.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. The 6-foot-6 wing can soar and does most of his scoring from inside the paint. Shooting from deep is not one of his strengths but he can still be useful as a cutter and lob option. With long arms and a good motor, Beauchamp will be most useful on defense. He knows how to use his length to disrupt the opposition.

Beauchamp most likely won't elevate the offense to a new level. He is someone who will feed off of Antetokounmpo, Middleton and Jrue Holiday. However, he has showcased a terrific work ethic and is looking forward to learning from the veterans he'll be teaming up with. For a team in a window of title contention, it's hard to ask for more from a rookie.

The only reason this grade isn't an A is that Beauchamp's chances of becoming anything more than a very good role player are not great. It usually takes someone who can score at a high level and/or do other things at an elite level. That may not be in the cards for Beauchamp but it doesn't matter. He doesn't need to be in contention for the All-Star game for this pick to be a great one for the Bucks.

Hugo Besson: C

Milwaukee traded cash to the Indiana Pacers to make the last selection in the draft for the third year in a row. They chose Hugo Besson, a guard from France who knows all about getting buckets.

Coming to a surefire conclusion on the last player picked in the draft is extremely tough. This is especially the case for a player who won't come over to the NBA until a season after their draft. The uncertainty over their ability to make an impact in the NBA is plain as day. As far as the last draft pick goes, though, the Bucks got someone pretty intriguing.

In 25 games with the New Zealand Breakers, Besson averaged 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 38.6 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from deep and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line. He can handle and shoot the ball and possesses some creativity when finishing near the hoop.

The nature of draft-and-stash prospects gives some much-needed context to view the Besson pick. Having another year to develop his skills could be very helpful but it being around NBA competition in practice or in the G League might have more to offer. Besson's ability to score gives him a promising foundation to build on. For a pick as unpredictable as the last selection in the NBA Draft, the Bucks did pretty a solid job.
