The Milwaukee Bucks have not had any substantive talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves regarding a Jimmy Butler trade, according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Butler has requested a trade from the Timberwolves and is not with the team right now. The Bucks have reportedly put no players on the table and there is no ongoing dialogue between the two teams at the moment.

In 59 regular-season games for the Timberwolves in 2017-18, Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. The four-time All-Star shot 47.4 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from the 3-point line, and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line. The rugged defender reportedly has issues with Andrew Wiggins' work ethic and approach on defense, and is fed up with the nonchalant attitude of Karl-Anthony Towns. Butler has no intention of playing in Minnesota again and wants out as soon as possible.

Slated to make $18.7 million this season, Butler has a player-option for the 2019-20 season worth $19.8 million. If he declines that player-option, Butler will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019. The 29-year-old reportedly prefers to play for the Miami Heat. Butler has a close relationship with Heat legend Dwyane Wade and believes he can recruit other star players to South Beach.

Rumors circulated last week that the Timberwolves asked the Bucks for Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon in a potential deal for Butler. Milwaukee reportedly declined the trade. While Butler is one of the best two-way players in the league, he's wouldn't be a good fit next to Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both players aren't reliable perimeter shooters and do most of their damage while driving to the basket. There wouldn't be enough driving lanes in Milwaukee for Butler and Antetokounmpo because the Bucks don't have many perimeter shooters who can space the floor.
