Looks like the cat's out of the bag at Coors Field. Friday night in Denver and with the Colorado Rockies trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-6 after 7 1/2, the Rockies needed something—anything—to brighten spirits of MLB fans.

Enter a speedy, common gray house cat who darted from a crawlspace, sprinted past third base and finally rested in the middle of the outfield, panting after a terrific effort.

Colorado went on to fall 11-6 and move to 1-1 on the MLB season, but it wasn't without a spirited rally. Defending NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer, in his first start with the Dodgers after a stellar 2020 season in Cincinnati, had a no-hitter going through six innings and left after a rocky bottom-of-the-seventh. He surrendered two homers (to Charlie Blackmon and Ryan McMahon) in the frame, though he did finish with 10 strikeouts, two walks and just three hits relinquished through 6 1/3 innings.

The real question now: are the Rockies looking for a cat-quick utility MLB fielder after the 2020 offseason Nolan Arenado trade to the St. Louis Cardinals?

If so, then somebody needs to get “Rally Cat” on the phone.

Cats are obviously common house guests at MLB parks, but Coors Field has had quite a few feline furballs pay a visit in recent months.

There's even a Twitter account, dedicated to a specific black & white kitty that often appears near 20th & Blake:

If “Rally Cat” doesn't fit the new arrival in the clubhouse, maybe “Coorsy Cat” does:

Boos rained down once the cat was cornered near the outfield fence. Already, an MLB fan-favorite.
