The MLB will get its wish for the National League Championship Series and World Series: (some) fans will be in the building.

On Wednesday, the league put out a press release announcing that limited tickets will be made available for the NLCS and World Series, both to take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

“In conjunction with the Texas Rangers, MLB will make approximately 11,500 tickets available for each game with 10,550 fans spread throughout the ballpark and 950 in suites,” said the statement.

Globe Life Field holds 40,300, meaning the stadium could reach about 25 percent capacity for the playoff games.

The NLCS will begin on Monday, Oct. 12. The World Series is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20. Tickets for both series go on sale on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. CT.

MLB’s announcement was expected after MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred told USA Today’s Bob Nightengale last week that he hoped to have fans in the ballpark for the NLCS and beyond.

“We are pressing ahead to have fans in Texas,’’ Manfred said. “One of the most important things to our game is the presence of fans. Starting down the path of having fans in stadiums, and in a safe and risk-free environment, is very, very important to our game.’’

The National League will play its divisional and championship series in a bubble in Arlington and Minute Maid Park in Houston, while the American League will do the same at Petco Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Texas has eased statewide COVID-19 restrictions more so than Southern California to this point.
