The NBA is currently in the midst of an NBA 2K Players Tournament, and now MLB is starting up its own players-only video game league to help provide entertainment and raise money for charity during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a joint effort with the MLBPA and Sony Interactive Entertainment, players from all 30 teams will compete in an MLB The Show league, according to ESPN's Joon Lee. The 29-game regular season begins Friday and will go through April 28, with playoffs starting on April 30 and the World Series on May 2.

Each game will be three innings. The eight best teams will make the playoffs, with a best-of-three format for the first two rounds and a best-of-five series to determine the World Series champion.

These games will be broadcast on players' Twitch accounts. $5,000 will be donated on behalf of each player to a Boys and Girls Club affiliate in their local community. The champion will earn an extra $25,000 donation.
