The upcoming MLB Home Run Derby is already drawing excitement from fans. And for good reason. Two-time defending champion and New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso announced his participation. Then Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. followed suit, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Acuna was joined shortly thereafter by Washington Nationals star Juan Soto, per MLB insider Hector Gomez.

The Braves superstar announced his participation on Instagram on Monday. Acuña will be competing in the Derby for a second time.

Acuna and Soto will join a star-studded Home Run Derby cast that already includes Alonso and St. Louis Cardinals legend Albert Pujols, who announced his participation out of nowhere.

Fans will now get to enjoy a Home Run Derby savant in Alonso, two of the game's brightest stars in the Braves and Nationals outfielders, and one of the MLB's most legendary players in Pujols. Sounds like must-see television already.

Acuna has returned from last year's season-ending ACL injury, though the power hasn't quite returned just yet. The Braves star owns a career-low .433 slugging percentage in 233 plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Soto has been one of the few bright spots for a last-place Nationals team, as he has recorded a .870 OPS. Both stars figure to put on a show in the Home Run Derby, which will follow the one-on-one NCAA Tournament-style bracket format.

It's anybody's guess who will emerge from the already star-studded Home Run Derby field. One thing is for sure, though.

MLB fans will be treated to a night of towering home runs and Statcast-breaking missiles at Dodger Stadium.
