The Cleveland Indians parted ways with starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, sending him to the Cincinnati Reds in three-team shocking trade on Tuesday night.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Reds landed Bauer in a the trade involving the San Diego Padres. As part of the deal, the Indians got Yasiel Puig, Franmil Reyes, Logan Allen, Victor Nova and minor league pitcher Scott Moss. The Padres, on the other hand, acquired outfielder Taylor Trammell.

Bauer made headlines for the wrong reasons earlier this week after he fired a ball over the center-field fence on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. The 28-year-old right-hander escaped suspension for his actions, but he was fined by the league.

The nine-year veteran was linked to several teams, including the New York Yankees, despite showing inconsistencies this season. The former UCLA standout holds a 9-8 record in 24 starts this year with a 3.79 ERA and 185 strikeouts — a far cry from his 12-6 card and 2.21 ERA last season.

The Indians will get a boost offensively with Puig and Reyes. The 28-year-old Puig is hitting .255 this season with 22 home runs and 60 RBIs, while Reyes is averaging .253 with 27 homers and 46 RBIs this season.

The Indians made the American League Division Series in the past three seasons, including a World Series stint in 2016. They currently hold a 62-44 record. They are second to the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central division and are on pace to grab one of the wild-card spots for the 2019 MLB Playoffs.
