The Los Angeles Dodgers took the first leg of their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers with an 8-6 win on Friday. Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for Saturday’s game.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+160)

Over 7.5 runs (+105)

Under 7.5  runs (-125)

Why the Brewers Could Cover

The Brewers are just 4-7 in their last 11 games, but any team probably would have a bad stretch like that if they also faced the scorching St. Louis Cardinals seven times in the same span like Milwaukee. Five of those seven losses by the Brewers were against the Cards. Given how incredible St. Louis has been of late, Milwaukee will be glad to see any team other than those Cards for its last series of the regular season.

And while the Brewers also picked up a loss Friday in the series opener against the Dodgers, they are in a position to rebound quickly because on the mound for them this Saturday will be one of the best in the business in the form of Corbin Burnes. The 26-year-old right has simply been fantastic this year and has not picked up a loss since May. In 19 starts after that, Burnes has put together a 9-0 record with a 2.28 ERA and a 1.73 FIP. Not only that, but the Brewers are also 12-0 in all of Burnes’ last 12 starts, which includes their 2-1 home win over the New York Mets on Sep. 25, when he went seven innings long and allowed just an earned run on five hits with nine strikeouts and only one free pass issued. Milwaukee is also 3-2 in its last five meetings with the Dodgers.

Why the Dodgers Could Cover

Sure, Burnes has been hot, but so is the man the Dodgers will be sending to the mound for this game, and that’s no other than Julio Urias, who owns a 19-3 record, a 3.01 ERA, and 1.014 WHIP. The Dodgers haven’t even dropped a game in any of Urias’ last 11 appearances. He is also coming off a sparkling September during which he amassed a 4-0 record with a 2.20 ERA in 28.2 innings across five starts.

In two of those wins, Urias held the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres to just an earned run total with 15 strikes in 12.2 innings. He’s also tamed the Brewers earlier this season when he pitched for seven innings and fanned out 10 hitters while allowing just an earned run on four hits during a dominant 16-4 win on the road last May. Even if he struggles, Urias can still count on the Dodgers’ offense that is generating 5.61 runs per nine innings of duty by their starters. No one among LA’s current batch of hitters has a significant experience against Burnes, but they have a collective career batting average of .342 and .446 OBP against the Brewers’ ace.

Final Brewers-Dodgers Prediction & Pick

The Dodgers are on a roll. Their bats have been on fire, producing 27 runs over the last three games, but they’re about cool off against Burnes. That’s not to say they’d get completely dominated, but just don’t expect LA exploding for eight runs. At the same time, Urias should also be able to keep Milwaukee’s offense, which chased an injured Clayton Kershaw in the series opener, in check.

FINAL PICK:  Milwaukee +1.5 (-190)
