The Cardinals are 26-20 and currently lead the NL Central. They are 16th in batting average, 19th in on-base percentage, and 12th in long balls with 55. St. Louis has been hitting in spurts this year, but there has been consistency in one place: Nolan Arenado. The Cardinals star has been red-hot at the plate and now has 10 homers and 31 RBI on this season. The offense has been solid, but the pitching staff that has allowed the second-fewest homers in baseball has really held it down.
The Cardinals will send out Kwang Hyun Kim for the opener. Kim is coming off a rough start against the San Diego Padres. He allowed four runs and one earned in 3 1/3 innings of work in the loss. Kim plated two Padres on walks with the bases loaded before being pulled in the third. The Cardinals southpaw hasn't been all that bad this season, and the walks were uncharacteristic to say the least. He has allowed only one home runs and seven doubles in all of 2021.

The White Sox have been one of the best teams in baseball through the first two months of the season, though this last series was indeed a setback. They are 26-19 and fourth in the bigs in team batting average at .256. The White Sox are also second in the majors with an on-base percentage of .342. Reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu has had a solid start to the season with eight long balls and 33 RBI.
Big right-hander Lance Lynn will man the mound for the White Sox in the opener of this three-game set. Lynn carries a ridiculous 1.55 ERA and 0.98 WHIP into this start. Through seven starts, opposing batters are hitting just .183 against the righty. Lance Lynn is leading a Chicago staff that has the sixth-lowest ERA in baseball. Lynn is 4-1 with 46 strikeouts in what could be the best season of his career.

The Cardinals have also played very well, but the disparity in talent and pitching seems clear.
