Why The Cubs Can Cover The Spread/Win

After losing their third straight game, the Chicago Cubs are back down to fourth in the NL Central with a 34-51 record, putting them 13.5 games behind the first-place Brewers. Patrick Wisdom is leading the Cubs with 17 home runs and 45 RBIs, but can't seem to get the job done for the Cubbies when they need it the most. Drew Smyly is expected to get the starting bump today as he is 2-5 with a 3.80 ERA. This will actually be his first start since May 30th after coming back from the disabled list. Hopefully, he can be the saving grace for the Cubs tonight and hold off the Dodgers from a sweep.

Why The Dodgers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers are now on a six-game winning streak and are currently leading the NL West with a record of 55-29. They're ahead of the Padres by 7.0 games in the division and they just keep finding ways to win. Mookie Betts leads the team with 20 home runs while speedy Trea Turner is leading the team with a .300 batting average, 59 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. Starting on the mound tonight for the Dodgers will be Julio Urias who has a 7-6 record with a 2.57 ERA. Can he be the one to lead the Dodgers into a sweep?

Final Cubs-Dodgers Prediction & Pick

The Cubs have certainly taken a dip down this season than what we may be used to, but they still fight hard for every win, especially in this series. However, the Dodgers are just too good of a team to turn them down. Because of this, I don't like the odds that they give, so we're going to look at them to cover the spread rather than a straight-up win. Let's keep riding the hot hand and take the Dodgers run line tonight.

Final Cubs-Dodgers Prediction and Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-120)
