The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies will kickoff a three-game set at Coors Field to open the second half. Both teams took two out of three games in their respective series to end the first half. Although they are on different trajectories right now, the Dodgers and Rockies seem to play exciting games every season. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Dodgers-Rockies prediction and pick.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Dodgers-Rockies odds.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-131)

Colorado Rockies +1.5 (+118)

Over 11.5 Runs (-110)

Under 11.5 Runs (-110)

Why The Dodgers Could Cover The Spread

The Los Angeles Dodgers broke their recent struggles with two-straight wins heading into the All-Star break. The Dodgers will enjoy a familiar foe as they've won six straight against the Rockies coming in. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games at Coors Field as well. They have been terrific in road games with 5.13 runs per game and a +1.11 average run differential away from Dodgers Stadium. The World Series favorites are 1.5 games back of the Giants in the NL West and will look to use this series as a spring board to surpass the division rivals in the standings.

Julio Urias will open up on the mound for Los Angeles on Friday night. The 24-year-old southpaw had been one of the most consistent starters for Los Angeles this season. He is 11-3 with a 3.64 ERA and 119 strikeouts through 18 starts. He has an incredible 1.07 WHIP over 106.1 innings of work. Urias has allowed just one earned runs in at least six innings in each of his last two starts to date. The consistent left-hander earned the win in both starts.

Why The Rockies Could Cover The Spread

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

The Colorado Rockies played great baseball to end the first half of the season before bringing the All-Star Game to Coors Field. They won three of their last four games and continue to show signs of the future in Colorado. As we saw in the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game, Coors is one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks in all of baseball. The Rockies are most definitely out of playoff contention this season, but this club would enjoy building on their young cores potential. Colorado is an impressive 31-17 at home and if it weren't for their horrible 9-34 road record, this team may have actually been relevant in 2021.

Colorado will turn to Antonio Senzatela in the series opener. The right-hander has been far from serviceable with a 2-8 record and 4.58 ERA through 17 starts. He has struggled to get outs and has just 65 strikeouts over 94.1 innings of work. Senzatela has shown signs of life recently with under four runs allowed in at least five innings of work over his last three starts. The Rockies would love to see the 26-year-old continue to improve down the stretch.

Final Dodgers-Rockies Prediction & Pick

I expect the Los Angeles Dodgers to come out of the break fresh and ready to surge into the second half. As Trevor Bauer continue to miss time, it'll be up to Julio Urias and Walker Buehler to carry the load. Urias is a steady southpaw with huge upside. He has been very consistent this season and with the offense that the Dodgers have, Urias never has to be at his best. Colorado has potential in the future, but they are not in the same weight-class as Los Angeles this season.
