The Cleveland Guardians take on the Chicago White Sox. Check out our MLB odds series for our Guardians White Sox prediction and pick.

Cal Quantrill gets the ball for the Guardians, while Lucas Giolito gets the start for the White Sox.

Cal Quantrill has a 3.54 ERA. He has been a very steady and consistent performer for the Guardians since joining the starting rotation last year. He has allowed three runs or fewer in 23 of his 27 starts with Cleveland, a tremendous display of dependability in the middle of the team's rotation.

Lucas Giolito has not yet hit his stride, which is also a descriptor of the White Sox in their noticeably disappointing start to the season. Giolito has a respectable 3.20 ERA, but he has not looked like an ace or a shutdown starter who fully smothers the opposition.

What is worth considering as you contemplate your Guardians White Sox prediction in this game is that Giolito has a 1.21 ERA in six starts since the Guardians since 2020. He is allowing a .188 batting average to Cleveland hitters and is striking out an average of 11.6 per nine innings. He has clearly dominated the Guardians head-to-head over the past few years.

Why The Guardians Could Cover the Spread

The baseball world is buzzing after Cleveland made a remarkable comeback against Chicago on Monday night. Down 8-2 entering the ninth, the Guardians scored six runs to tie the game and then win in 11 innings, 12-9. Josh Naylor became the first person in Major League Baseball history to drive in eight or more runs in the eighth inning of a game or later. He drove in one in the eighth, four in the ninth with his two-out, game-tying grand slam off Liam Hendriks, and three more with his game-winning three-run blast in the top of the 11th. It was a magical comeback for Cleveland, which still hasn't lost to the White Sox in four games this season. Cleveland just won three of four from the Toronto Blue Jays and has shown it can beat highly talented teams.

A great reason to think Cleveland can win this game, when you make your Guardians White Sox pick, is that Cleveland will be riding so high off the adrenaline rush from Monday's comeback that it will play confidently against the stunned and embarrassed White Sox, who committed tons of mistakes even before Naylor's tying grand slam in the ninth on Monday.

Why The White Sox Could Cover the Spread

After that embarrassing collapse versus Cleveland on Monday, the White Sox will be even more focused and intent on playing a clean baseball game. They committed four errors against the Guardians. They walked hitters in the ninth before the tying run came to the plate. They made all sorts of misplays to give Cleveland a chance to tie and then win. You're going to see a focused energy from the White Sox in this game.

Also, Lucas Giolito owns the Guardians, as we noted above. That has to count for something in this contest.

Final Guardians-White Sox Prediction & Pick

This is frankly a game to stay away from, given what happened on Monday. Who knows how each team will react to that incredible Cleveland comeback? But, if you have to pick a team, go with the White Sox due to Giolito's track record against Cleveland.

Final Guardians-White Sox Prediction & Pick: White Sox -1.5
