The Milwaukee Brewers will host the San Diego Padres for a four-game series set to begin on Monday night. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Padres-Brewers prediction and pick.

Both teams won their weekend series as the Padres defeated the Seattle Mariners and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cincinnati Reds. San Diego is the hottest team in baseball with wins in nine straight games. Milwaukee had lost six of seven games before bouncing back with two big wins over the weekend.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the Padres-Brewers odds.

MLB Odds: Padres-Brewers Odds

San Diego Padres +1.5 (-215)

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (+185)

Over 7 Runs (-117)

Under 7 Runs (-103)

Why The Padres Could Cover The Spread

The Padres pulled off their third straight sweep with three wins against the Mariners over the weekend. The Padres have won nine games in a row and now have the best record in baseball at 30-17. Their 15-5 record in May leads the league as well, and this team has shown no signs of slowing down. Hitting the road hasn't really affected this team as the Padres are 12-7 when playing away from Petco Park this season. Fernando Tatis Jr. has been scorching hot lately, and the rest of the San Diego lineup has followed suit.

San Diego will turn to left-hander Blake Snell to open the series against the Brewers. Snell is currently 1-0 with a 3.79 ERA on the season. The southpaw has been a bit erratic this season, but he has only allowed more than three earned runs in one start. He is coming off arguably his best start of the season against the Colorado Rockies last week. Snell allowed one earned run and struck out 11 batters over six innings of work in the win.

Why The Brewers Could Cover The Spread

The Milwaukee Brewers got back to .500 with a 9-4 win against the Reds on Sunday. They are now 23-23, which is good for third place in the NL Central. The Brewers finally took a series as they had lost their last three and were desperate to get things going. Milwaukee is now 7-13 in the month of May and have free-fallen out of the top spot in the division over the past few weeks. Christian Yelich hit his first home run of the season on Sunday, which Milwaukee is praying will catapult their offense out of the gutter.

Right-hander Brandon Woodruff will get the nod for the Brewers in the opener. Woodruff has been lights out this season with a 1.58 ERA. He has gone at least six innings in all but one of his starts in 2021. The right-hander has not allowed more than three earned runs in any start and has allowed one or zero earned runs in seven of his first nine starts. Woodruff is having a breakout year as the anchor of this rotation.

Final Padres-Brewers Prediction & Pick

This game features a solid pitching matchup on paper, but I see seven runs being way too low in this ballgame. Blake Snell hasn't been himself for parts of this season and is the type of arm that offenses can get to if he doesn't have his control. Although Woodruff is having a stellar season, there aren't many opposing offenses like the Padres. With the way they have been hitting, I can certainly see them putting up three or more runs against the Brewers ace.

FINAL PICK: Over 7 Runs (-117)
