The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers will finish up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. It's time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Rockies-Dodgers prediction and pick.

Both of these teams are playing in the ultra-competitive NL West. The Rockies don't really have any sort of playoff hopes, but they would love to play spoiler to the Dodgers. Los Angeles has championship aspirations again but currently trail the San Francisco Giants by two games for the division lead. The San Diego Padres are also hot on the Dodgers' heels, trailing LA by only 2.5 games. Every game counts for the Dodgers, so this series finale is an important one.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the lines for Sunday's game.

Los Angeles Dodgers ML (-179)

Over 8 1/2 runs (-115)

Under 8 1/2 runs (-105)

Why The Rockies Could Win

Despite their poor record, the Rockies aren't a particularly easy team to get by. Colorado isn't a terrible offensive team, which could present a problem for Dodgers rookie Josiah Gray.

Gray will make his second MLB appearance on Sunday. He was called up to pitch agains the San Francisco Giants last week, giving up four earned runs over four innings in his debut appearance. It wasn't a great showing, so the Rockies should feel confident that they can get some runs across against Gray.

Rockies starter Jon Gray has been one of Colorado's best pitchers this season, earning a 3.68 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He has also pitched well against the Dodgers this season, facing Los Angeles three times with pretty solid results. Over those three starts, Gray has pitched 16 innings while giving up only six runs. The Dodgers may be a high-powered offense, but there's reason to believe that Gray can pitch well against them.

Why The Dodgers Could Win

The Dodgers are one of the most dangerous teams in the MLB at the plate. They currently lead the MLB in walks drawn while also ranking inside the top 10 in OBP, slugging percentage, and OPS. Gray has pitched well against this lineup in the past, but that could easily change on Sunday afternoon.

There are a couple factors that are going the Dodgers' way in this matchup against Gray. The Rockies righty is a significantly worse pitcher when he's on the road, with his ERA rising from 3.68 to 4.54. Gray's opponent's batting average also skyrockets when he's away from home, rising from .169 at home to .292 on the road. Los Angeles gets to play this game in Dodger Stadium, so Gray is almost a lock to have a tough time against the Dodger bats.

There are also some stats that help Los Angeles starter Josiah Gray. The Rockies are significantly worse when they face right-handed pitching, seeing drops in their batting average, OBP, and OPS against righties. Colorado also struggles on the road, with the team batting average dropping from .276 at Coors Field to .204 anywhere else.

Final Rockies-Dodgers Prediction & Pick

The Dodgers look like they're in a prime position to take this game and a series victory, but they aren't the best bet on the board. The over looks great here with the two Grays on the mound. Josiah Gray is making his second career MLB appearance, so the Rockies should be able to put up some runs on him. Jon Gray has had his struggles on the road and is also facing one of the best offenses in the league. Over 8 1/2 runs looks pretty safe here.

FINAL PICK: Over 8 1/2 runs (-115)
