The Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays will continue their four-game series on Wednesday night. It's time to continue our MLB odds series and make a White Sox-Blue Jays prediction and pick.

These teams each have a lot to play as they enter the back end of this series. The White Sox are only 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they need to start stringing together wins if they want to improve their playoff seeding. The Blue Jays are in much worse shape, as they aren't in a playoff spot as of now. Toronto is sitting 5.5 games out of the last AL Wild Card spot, so every game is hugely important for them.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the lines for Wednesday's game.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

Chicago sports one of the best offenses in MLB, but the pitching staff isn't close behind. The White Sox will entrust this start to pitcher Lucas Giolito.

Giolito has had a pretty good season to this point, earning a 3.77 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP on the year. Those are both pretty good numbers, but they get even better when we look at the righty's last seven starts. Over that span, Giolito's ERA improves to 2.86, with his WHIP following suit and falling to 0.93. He's clearly on a hot streak, which is perfect for facing one of the better offenses in the league.

While the Blue Jays certainly have some offensive firepower, Chicago has more than enough of its own to counter them. The White Sox rank inside the top 10 in baseball in batting average, OBP, and OPS. Toronto pitcher Robbie Ray is also a great matchup for them, as the White Sox love facing left-handed pitching. They see their batting average, OPS, and slugging percentage all skyrocket against lefties.

Why The Blue Jays Could Cover The Spread

For once, the Blue Jays won't have to rely solely on their fantastic offense. The aforementioned Robbie Ray has been great this season, posting a 2.79 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP over the course of the season. Ray has also faced the White Sox once this season, and it was one of his best outings of the year. He pitched six innings of one-run baseball while striking out 13 White Sox hitters. Asking for a repeat performance is aiming too high, but a solid outing from Ray should be in the cards.

This Toronto offense is one that matches up well against Giolito. The White Sox starter has hardly been allowing anything to his opponents lately, so a Blue Jays offense that specializes in scoring quickly by way of the long ball is perfect in this spot. Toronto also has four hitters who own a .400 career batting average or higher against Giolito, so they should be able to hit the righty fairly well.

Final White Sox-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

Both of the games between these teams have hit the under, and this one should too. There are two elite pitchers on the mound; one with great history against his opponent while the other is on a scorching hot streak. These starters should be able to keep this a low-scoring affair into the late innings, which is almost always a recipe for the under to cash.

FINAL PICK: Under 8 1/2 runs (-110)
