The Minnesota Twins will be hosting the New York Yankees for the second game of this mid-week series. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Yankees-Twins prediction and pick.

New York took the first game of this series by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday night. The Yankees extended their winning streak to six games against the Minnesota Twins. Both teams have been struggling through their last 10 games and are hopeful that things will turn around in the near future.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the Yankees-Twins odds.

MLB Odds: Yankees-Twins Odds

New York Yankees -1.5 (-125)

Minnesota Twins +1.5 (-105)

Over 8.5 Runs (-110)

Under 8.5 Runs (-110)

Why The Yankees Could Cover The Spread

The Yankees have struggled this season and need to get things going at the plate if they want to reverse their fortunes. They are 32-29 and treading water through the first two months of the regular season. The Bronx Bombers have averaged just 3.79 runs per game, which is 27th in the majors. The pitching has kept them afloat as they're in the top 10 in runs, hits, and walks allowed in the league. One of the lone bright spots for this club has been the play of right fielder Aaron Judge. Judge is hitting .324 with seven home runs and 14 RBI through his last 30 games coming in.

New York will turn to ace Gerrit Cole for the second game of this series. Cole has been dominant this season with a 6-3 record and 2.26 ERA through 12 starts this season. He has struck out 104 batters through his first 75 innings of work. The perennial Cy Young candidate is in a bounce-back spot after a horrible start against the Tampa Bay Rays last week. Cole allowed five earned runs in five innings of work against Tampa.

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread

The Twins had high expectations heading into the 2021 season and have really struggled out of the gate. The Twins are currently 24-36 through the first two months of the regular season and are in jeopardy of watching their season slip away before the heart of the summer. Minnesota's potent lineup has been okay, as they currently average 4.57 runs per game, which is good for 12th in baseball. It's their pitching staff that has let them down. The Twins are allowing 5.22 runs per game, which is 28th in the majors. They have been awful at home with an 8-22 record against the spread through their first 30 games at Target Field.

The Twins will turn to right-hander Randy Dobnak in the second game of this series. Dobnak was inserted into the starting rotation when Kenta Maeda went on the injured list, and he has been awful thus far. The Twins righty is currently 1-5 with a 6.19 ERA through his first 10 appearances of the season. In his most recent start against the Baltimore Orioles, the Twins starter gave up three earned runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Final Yankees-Twins Prediction & Pick

The Yankees should and will make easy work of the Twins in the second game of this series. Gerrit Cole just doesn't string together back-to-back bad starts and will bounce back in a big way against Minnesota's lineup. Randy Dobnak has been nothing short of awful to start this season, and the Yankees showed some signs of life in the series opener. I expect them to build off that performance and continue their recent winning streak against the Twins.

FINAL PICK: New York Yankees -1.5 (-125)
