The Atlanta Braves and Oakland Athletics have both expressed interest in trading for Cincinnati Reds right-handed starting pitcher Tanner Roark, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The New York Yankees have also kicked the tires on Roark.

Through 20 starts this season, Roark has gone 6-6 with a 3.95 ERA while allowing 113 hits and striking out 106 batters over 107 innings of work.

Roark was originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the 25th round of the 2008 MLB Draft, but he never actually played a game for the Rangers' major-league club before being dealt to the Washington Nationals in July 2010.

He went on to make his big-league debut in 2013, going 7-1 with a 1.51 ERA across 14 appearances and five starts.

The following year, Roark became a full-time starter for the Nationals, going 15-10 with a 2.85 ERA and surrendering 178 hits while fanning 138 hitters across 198.2 frames of action.

The remainder of Roark's tenure in Washington was up and down, as he then proceeded to go 4-7 with a 4.38 ERA in what was mainly a bullpen role (28 relief appearances and 12 starts) in 2015 and then rebounded in 2016, going 16-10 with a 2.83 ERA while giving up just 173 hits and registering 172 punchouts over 210 innings as a starter.

Roark, who is 32 years old, spent the first six years of his career with the Nationals before being traded to the Reds this past December.

The Braves and Athletics are both in contention in their respective leagues, as Atlanta is 62-45 and holds a four-and-a-half-game lead over Washington for first place in the NL East and Oakland is 60-47 and in the thick of the American League Wild Card hunt.
