It's no secret that there has been plenty of trade talk surrounding San Francisco Giants ace starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner, but Bumgarner doesn't seem to particularly care.

Following his dazzling nine-inning performance in what ended up being a 16-inning win over the New York Mets on Thursday, Bumgarner was asked about the trade rumors, and he had this to say:

“I don’t give a (expletive),” said Bumgarner, according to Ron Kroichick of The San Francisco Chronicle. “I’m here to win games for this team, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Indeed, the Giants have been winning games, so much so that San Francisco may end up holding on to Bumgarner after all.

Thanks to a recent surge in which the Giants have won 14 of their last 16 games, San Francisco has gotten back to .500 and now finds itself firmly in the National League Wild Card race.

So, it would not be the least bit surprising if the Giants decide to keep Bumgarner if they continue their winning ways through the July 31 trade deadline.

Of course, that still might not be the best course of action for the future, as Bumgarner will be a free agent at season's end.

The soon-to-be-30-year-old has gone 5-7 with a 3.65 ERA this season, allowing 122 hits while striking out 127 batters over 125.2 innings of work. He has been particularly strong in recent weeks, as he has permitted just five earned runs over his last five starts.

Bumgarner entered the league in 2009 and has been one of the best pitchers in baseball ever since, helping lead the Giants to three World Series championships.
