Let the Max Scherzer MLB trade rumors fire up again, just as they should ahead of the rapidly approaching trade deadline on July 30th. According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, the Washington Nationals ace is having his name in discussions about a potential move outside of the capital.

Max Scherzer* is being discussed in potential trades, and while the Nats (famous for ‘19 WS comeback win) are investigating both buy/sell scenarios, they are 7 games back and a Scherzer trade suddenly seems quite possible. He alone would transform thin SP market. *has veto rights

One reason to believe the MLB trade rumors that the Nats are starting to think of moving Max Scherzer is that the team is unlikely to make the postseason. As of this writing, Washington is just fourth in the National League East division with a 45-41 record. FanGraphs is giving the Nationals a mere 2.3 percent to join the postseason fray and just a microscopic 0.1 percent chance to win the World Series.

Getting Max Scherzer traded will also be harder than what it seems on the surface of this MLB trade rumors. For one, he owns a full no-trade clause, which kicked in 2019. In addition to that, his agent, Scott Boras had already gone on the record implying that a team that would trade for Scherzer needs to guarantee an extension first for the three-time Cy Young winner.

The 36-year-old Max Scherzer is 7-4 with a 2.83 ERA,  0.89 WHIP, and 3.48  FIP across 18 starts, so far this season.
