Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant is arguably the hottest name on the trade stove as we draw closer and closer to the MLB trade deadline. He has been linked to a ton of teams, with the latest being the New York Mets. On Friday, MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman reported that the Washington Nationals are also in on Kris Bryant.
Nats are among many teams said interested in Kris Bryant but it’s uncertain if there’s a prospect match. Nats do not want to trade top pitching prospects Cavalli or Rutledge

This is actually a mild surprise given the Nationals' current state. They are six games back of the Mets in the National League East, although Jeff Passan also reported that the NL East is wide open for the taking and every team– with the exception of the Miami Marlins– could be active leading up to the MLB trade deadline.
The National League East is wild right now. Not only is sub-.500 Atlanta in add mode, sources tell ESPN that Philadelphia and Washington, at least for the time being, are acting like buyers as well.
Because the Mets haven't run away with the division, others see vulnerability.

Bryant might actually enjoy going to the Nationals and being teamed up with former teammate Kyle Schwarber as well as Jon Lester. The writing has been on the wall all season for Bryant to be shipped out of Chicago after the two sides couldn't agree on a long-term deal.
On the season Bryant has smacked 16 home runs with 46 RBIs and is batting .271. It is no secret he will provide a huge offensive boost to any contending team and it looks as if the Cubs will be working the phones and seeing which team makes the best offer leading up to the MLB trade deadline.
Will it be the Nationals?
