It's been years since Morbius was announced with Jared Leto playing the titular character. And while a number of delays pushed the film so far back to its next month's release, the potential for this project to expand Sony and Marvel Studio's partnership is something fans are excited about. The thing is, early reviews and reactions from the critics are cratering the hype for this movie even before it actually comes out.

In a tweet by Brandon Matthews, editor of Geeks Worldwide, early reactions of Morbius have already leaked and it's not looking good for Leto. Some sources have said that the film is boring and uncalculated while lacking consistency. While this claim should be taken with a grain of salt, it still does not bode well for the upcoming release of Morbius early next month.

Spider-Man: No Way Home release date

Of course, this is Sony we're talking about. While comic book movie fans have been spoiled to death with recent blockbusters, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Sony's cinematic universe is somewhat far behind. With entries like Venom and its sequel, Let There Be Carnage, one won't be surprised anymore if Morbius is going to underperform at the box office.

But of course, Morbius isn't the only attempt of Sony to gain a foothold in Hollywood. The company is set to shoot and release Kraven The Hunter some time in the near future.  Even if Jared Leto's performance as the vampiric anti-hero fails, comic book movie fans still have something to look forward to soon.
