Jimmy Donaldson was born on May 7, 1998. He was raised in Greenville, North Carolina alongside a brother called CJ. He later attended Greenville Christian Academy and graduated in 2016. Donaldson suffers from Crohn's disease, an inflammatory bowel condition. After getting diagnosed back in his ninth grade, he has since gone through the extreme discomfort and excruciating pain by way of medication and a strict diet. The then 18-year-old enrolled in East Carolina University for college, but dropped out in fall 2016 after attending for two weeks. It was around that time when he would start to pull a decent number of subscribers into his YouTube account.
13-year-old Jimmy created MrBeast6000 back in 2012, and uploaded his first-ever video in February of that same year. Off his immensely popular online platform, MrBeast has had several other ventures. Donaldson teamed up with YouTuber Mark Rober for a collaborative fundraising challenge called #TeamTrees, which received over $23.5 million. They two followed it up later with #TeamSeas. The young North Carolina native also created the channel Beast Philanthropy, which donates all of its revenue and sales for charity. AP News reported back in December 2021 that Beast Philanthropy has given over 1.1 million pounds of food. They have also helped feed struggling households in the Greenville, and delivered hot meals for the Louisiana victims of Hurricane Ida.
