After a lengthy wait, Jadeveon Clowney finally put pen to paper on a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted on Sunday that Clowney signed off on what is “essentially” a one-year agreement worth $11 million.

After news broke that Clowney is not leaving Cleveland for the 2022 season, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett took to Twitter with emoji and gif reactions to the signing.

Garrett had been quite vocal about wanting to see Clowney remain with the Browns. He noted in December that he made a push to persuade Clowney to not go anywhere else in free agency, which came as the eighth-year pass rusher also added that he “would” consider re-signing with the AFC North side. More so, Garrett posted a picture of himself and Clowney on his Instagram story in April with a caption that read “Job not finished.”

While he was linked with teams such as the Carolina Panthers in free agency, Clowney will suit up for the Browns for at least one more season.

Clowney featured in 14 regular season games over the 2021 campaign, where he recorded 9.0 sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

With rookie Alex Wright and Chase Winovich also on the roster, plenty of high expectations sure will be on the Browns front seven to be an X-factor on a game-by-game basis later this year.
