Stock racer Bubba Wallace showed off his Michael Jordan-inspired car as he prepares to debut for MJ's new NASCAR team.

Wallace is racing a No. 23, Jordan's number with the Chicago Bulls, and the car is also painted in red and black.

Wallace made the rounds in the media on Friday morning, and said he is ecstatic to represent Jordan as part of this new journey (via TMZ):

27-year-old Wallace was clearly pleased with the car … he tweeted about it, and during an interview with “CBS This Morning,” he said it's all “an exciting opportunity that's been put in front of me that I have to capitalize on.”

Jordan and veteran racer Denny Hamlin announced in September they were launching a new NASCAR Cup team, with Wallace as the headline driver.

The former Chicago Bulls legend said he made the choice to start the team so as to increase diversity within the sport (via ESPN):

“Historically, NASCAR has struggled with diversity, and there have been few Black owners,” Jordan said in his statement. “The timing seemed perfect, as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more.”

Wallace made headlines this summer when he helped spur NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag from all race sites, and also has been a strong advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement as one of the few Black racers in the sport.

It remains to be seen how Jordan and Hamlin might expand the roster. But they have a strong foundation in Wallace, who cannot wait to drive the MJ-inspired ride.
