UFC fans have been waiting to find out the future of Nate Diaz for what feels like forever. The welterweight contender has been hinting at who he wants next and it seems like he has changed his target.

Nate Diaz had wanted a bout with Tony Ferguson and Vicente Luque. It seemed like those fights were great options for the former UFC title challenger.

Now it appears he wants someone else. Not someone actually but rather the winner of a certain fight. Nate Diaz revealed he wanted to face the winner of Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington.

The pick was a surprising one as many felt Nate Diaz was not in a good position to fight for a UFC title. The other fights seemed like more realistic targets.

The younger Diaz brother has one fight left on his current UFC deal and it is yet to be known whether or not he plans to re-sign with the promotion. This has made the matchmaking tricky as the future is unknown and the UFC are reluctant to give him just anyone.

A title shot is unlikely with welterweight overflowing with top contenders like Leon Edwards and Gilbert Burns. The division has many options outside of Nate Diaz.

He's also coming off of a loss to Leon Edwards and had lost to Jorge Masvidal before. His last two wins in a row came over Conor McGregor and Michael Johnson back in 2016 and 2015.

It will be interesting to see who ends up getting matched with Nate Diaz next. It most likely won't be Kamaru Usman or Colby Covington.
