All the talk around Major League Baseball is regarding the Washington Nationals and superstar outfielder Juan Soto. Amid speculation of stalled contract talks which have turned into potential trade rumors, Soto is just trying to do his thing on the baseball field. Ahead of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game, during which Soto will be featuring for the National League and also taking part in the Home Run Derby, Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz hilariously “baptized” him by letting it rain over the 23-year-old with a money gun, via Starting 9.

Big Papi had a hilarious message for teams interested in bringing Soto on board, and let it be heard by all during the Fox Sports broadcast.

“I baptize free agents,” Ortiz said to Soto. “So, Nationals, and the whole world… Pay the man! Make it rain on him!”

Ortiz and the rest of the Fox Sports crew, featuring Pete Alonso and Soto were laughing as cash rained out from the money gun which Papi had under the broadcast desk.

The message was easy enough to understand. The Nationals better pay Soto before someone else does, because he's going to be worth every penny of the mammoth contract he signs, wherever he puts pen to paper.

Soto admitted that navigating the negotiations has been difficult for him, even going as far as to say he's unsure of who he can trust amid the varying rumors and reports about himself. It's clear that Ortiz has his back, however, giving him a glowing endorsement for all 30 MLB teams to hear.
