Winning is already a big challenge for the Washington Nationals, and it's about to get harder for them for at least the next few games, with star outfielder Juan Soto sustaining a lower-body injury in Sunday's 7-4 loss at home to the Miami Marlins.

Soto suffered a left calf injury in that game while making a throw and was forced to exit the contest in the fourth inning. Before he left, Soto went hitless in any of his plate appearances but was able to draw two walks.

The 23-year-old Dominican underwent an MRI to check the severity of his injury. Fortunately for the Nationals and their fans, it doesn't sound as though he would be out for long.

Juan Soto (left calf tightness) said “everything was fine” in MRI taken yesterday: “They say it's just a little tight, so it's going to take a couple days and see how it goes. It all depends how I feel day by day.”

While there is yet to be a definite timetable for his return, Soto can be expected to be back in a matter of days, at the maximum. That said, the Nationals could still practice extra caution on Soto, considering his status as one of the best players in all of baseball today. He was starting to get hot again prior to the injury, slashing .290/.488/.516 with a homer in his last 11 games.
