Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Los Angeles Clippers newcomer Kawhi Leonard are tied at 97 for the highest player rating in NBA 2K20.

Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks came in at third.

While Leonard and Antetokounmpo's ratings are expected to be above 95 because of how well they have played last season, James' rating is somehow a surprise to some fans.

The four-time MVP missed a total of 18 straight games last season due to a groin injury. Moreover, he failed to lead the Lakers to the playoffs, which made some people question why he's still rated at 97.

To be fair though, LeBron still managed to put up 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists, which is almost similar to his production for the Cleveland Cavaliers during their 2017-18 campaign. It's also worth noting that the Lakers were performing well before he suffered an injury.

As for Leonard, he put up 26.6 points, 7.3 boards and 3.3 assists last season, leading the Toronto Raptors to their first-ever championship. His playoff run was also historic, which is the main reason why he's tied with James. Although one could argue that Kawhi should've gotten a better rating, given the circumstances mentioned above.

The battle in LA will commence next season, with LeBron leading the Lakers and Kawhi spearheading the Clippers. Both players will be motivated to prove themselves over the other, and with a competent roster surrounding both of them, the city of Los Angeles is expected to be in for a treat on a nightly basis.

NBA 2K20 ratings for some of the best players are expected to be announced soon.
