It has been a long season for Carmelo Anthony. After a stretch as a top player in the league during his time with the Denver Nuggets and at least part of his time with the New York Knicks, he has struggled just to find a team willing to offer his meaningful minutes. Despite the hardships the veteran is facing on the backend of his NBA career, it is obvious that his fellow players in the league still hold him in high regard.

Seven votes may not be a lot, but it is still an indication of the respect that players around the league have for the future Hall of Famer. It could even hint at an overarching feeling that this could be his last year in the league. He may not be having the same kind of ride into the sunset at draftmate Dwyane Wade, but like Wade, Melo is closer to the end than the beginning.

It may not be wrapping up how he’d like, but Anthony has had an undoubtedly incredible career. Currently in his 16th season, he has averaged 24.0 points, 6.5 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals for his career. Obviously, his play this season hasn’t warranted an All-Star appearance, but knowing that his colleagues still recognize his contributions to the league.

After being waived from the Chicago Bulls roster following their trade with the Houston Rockets, Carmelo Anthony is on the hunt to find what will be is the third time in two seasons. Even if he can’t find a place that allows him to compete for a title, hopefully, he can work his way onto a team that would allow him to get on the court and play some NBA basketball while he still can.
