Even if none of his teammates with the Los Angeles Clippers are participating in the 2021 Slam Dunk Contest on Sunday during halftime of the All-Star Game, Paul George believes that one player can stand out and surprise people once he showcases his above-the-rim skills.

Indiana Pacers guard Cassius Stanley is one of the participants in this year’s event, along with New York Knicks rookie Obi Toppin and Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons. But according to George, it is Stanley fans should watch out for, as he believes he has all the tools needed to impress the judges and those who will watch the contest:

George said he had previously seen the 21-year-old Stanley in workouts, which is why he is aware of his skill set and how good he can be. The 30-year-old believes that Stanley, a former Duke Blue Devil, can put on a show at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Sunday.

Aside from praising Stanley’s skills and ability to dunk, George also reflected on his time participating in the Slam Dunk Contest, which he did in 2012 and 2014 when he was a member of the Pacers. The seven-time All-Star said he was blessed to be able to participate in the event twice and is something he looks back on fondly.

If there’s someone who knows his stuff in the Slam Dunk Contest, it’s George, so if he says Stanley is someone to watch, then the young Pacer is certainly capable of doing that. Stanley, meanwhile, has vowed to get creative and original with his dunks in the event, and he will no doubt be motivated to back up George’s praise.
