New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis claims he was not being recruited during the recent All-Star Weekend festivities in Charlotte, claiming this was only a time to have fun and mingle with others:

“Guys didn’t talk about it,” said Davis, according to Scott Kushner of The Advocate. “I mean we didn’t even see each other that much to talk about it. We were just here to get ready for this game today and that’s really what we did. Great to be around family and the other All-Stars.”

Davis was the first reserve drafted by LeBron James after Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered on his promise to select his teammate and first-time All-Star Khris Middleton. James and Davis are linked by the same sports agency, Klutch Sports, which is run by Rich Paul, James' longtime friend and business partner.

Times will be awkward in New Orleans once again upon his return, as ownership reportedly wasn't happy with him leaving the arena after sustaining a shoulder injury during his last game before the break.

Consequentially, the team fired general manager Dell Demps after a nine-year tenure at the executive ranks, putting Danny Ferry in as the interim shortly after.

There is a visible rift between a football-heavy ownership and executive front, who look down at Davis' decision to request a trade midseason.

Davis intends to play out the season, despite still being on the trade block — something that has now proved risky after he exited the Smoothie King Center during a 131-122 win for his team over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
