Much to everyone’s surprise, Derrick Jones Jr. won the Slam Dunk Contest over Aaron Gordon. Fans are bewildered that the Orlando Magic forward wasn’t able to win the contest after putting on another incredible display of athleticism and creativity.

Players throughout the league are on the same boat as the fans: they couldn’t believe that Gordon lost the contest after all of the insane dunks he pulled off this year. Many felt that what happened was a straight-up robbery.

His teammates were naturally upset with the result. Evan Fournier quoted Kenny Smith to express his disappointment at the result. Terrence Ross couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Former teammates Mario Hezonja and Elfrid Payton were also upset with the result.

James Ennis, Austin Rivers and Joel Embiid were in agreement with the players who had experience playing with Gordon. They think that Gordon did more than enough to warrant the win.

Dallas Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson thinks they should have tied, while Luka Doncic was simply speechless.

Karl-Anthony Towns had a hilarious way of saying Gordon got robbed.

Tyus Jones felt the need to remind everyone how Gordon had to jump over Tacko Fall to get the win, but it still wasn’t enough. Nicolas Batum also made the same observation.

Allonzo Trier lamented that fans will never see two of the greatest modern dunkers take on the contest ever again.

Evan Turner, Jusuf Nurkic, Ja Morant, and Andre Iguodala all hit out on the judges.

Jamal Crawford was frustrated that such a great contest ended on a bummer.

Paul Pierce had an interesting take and said that this contest will be remembered for a long time.

The Slam Dunk Contest will be talked about for days to come, and people will argue for and against Aaron Gordon. However, one thing’s for sure: it will be hard to find another dunker as gifted as AG was.
