After not winning the All-Star 3-point contest on Saturday in his hometown of Charlotte, Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry initially told reporters this will likely be his last shootout.
However, when a reporter told Curry he might get a Dirk Nowitzki treatment someday and be asked to participate in the contest during his final season in the NBA, Curry changed his answer:
Steph Curry said this was “most likely” his last 3-point competition. But then Warriors PR lobbed over a “San Francisco 2023” and he was reminded that he might one day have a Dirk send-off: “I’m going to change my answer to I don’t know.” pic.twitter.com/LZPwB2eyDo

We don't need a 3-point contest to know that Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history. The two-time league MVP went for 27 in the first round of Saturday night's contest and many thought he was going to cruise to an easy victory.
However, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris scored 26 in the final round to dethrone Curry.
Yes, there will come a time when Curry will have to retire from the NBA. Will the NBA commissioner during that year ask the Warriors star to participate one last time whenever that year arrives? Only time will tell, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where Curry doesn't.
Stephen Curry has more events to put on a show. That's the actual All-Star game on Sunday. Curry is a starter for Team Giannis. He'll be going up against two of his teammates who are on Team LeBron in Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.
