Duke freshman swingman RJ Barrett announced on Twitter he has declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Barrett is projected to be a lottery pick by draft experts.

In 38 games this season for Duke, Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. The lefty shot 45.4 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc and 66.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Barrett and Duke lost to Michigan State in theĀ East Regional Final. Barrett averaged 20.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in the NCAA Tournament. He shot 43.3 percent overall and 35.0 percent on 3-pointers.

Barrett's Duke teammate, Zion Williamson, will likely be the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft. Williamson got all the hype this season, but RJ Barrett is a really talented scorer who can do a lot of things on the basketball court. He has a high motor and isn't afraid to take big shots.

Some drafts scouts have questioned Barrett's shot selection, but that's usually a problem a lot of young players have. The numbers and eye test show that RJ Barrett is going to be an impact player in the NBA next season. His knack to score the ball from the perimeter and paint will translate well to the next level.
