There remains just one Ball in the NBA. That much is ascertained after the 2018 NBA Draft came and went away without LiAngelo Ball hearing his name get called.

Sensing that LiAngelo was not going to be selected, a pack of folks at Barclays Center broke out with a “We want ‘Gelo” chant just before the final pick of the draft was announced.

Their effort was immediately put to waste though, as the Philadelphia 76ers opted to select Kostas Antetokounmpo of Dayton as the 2018 batch’s last pick.

For now, LiAngelo is an undrafted free agent. That means all hope is not lost for LaVar Ball, who has championed the idea having all his three sons playing in the NBA. The Ball family is batting 1-for-3 so far with Lonzo Ball currently with the Los Angeles Lakers and LaMelo Ball at least three years away from eligibility.

That LiAngelo was left in the cold by general managers and team executives, however, was not a surprise. He was never included in the mock drafts of several respectable publications, let alone in the radar of NBA teams.

It’s not yet the end of the world for LiAngelo Ball’s NBA dreams, but his chance to get to the world’s best league remains cloudy at best.
