Marvin Bagley III is starting to reap the financial benefits of being extremely good at basketball. According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the former Duke Blue Devil big man is in line to ink a massive endorsement deal with Puma.

Marvin Bagley, projected to be one of the top picks in the NBA draft next week, is going to sign a five-year deal with Puma that is expected to be the largest rookie shoe deal since Kevin Durant, sources tell @TheAthletic

Once this deal is done, Marvin Bagley III is going to be the first NBA player in 20 years to sign with the German sports apparel brand. Vince Carter was the last one to sign a contract with Puma, which happened way back in 1998. Bagley was not even born yet that year.

Puma is definitely investing in Bagley’s potential to become a huge star in the pros. They don’t seem to be reaching so far with that assessment, as Bagley has spent an entire season with Duke demonstrating what he is capable of doing in the NBA. In his first and only year in Durham, Bagley averaged fantastic numbers of 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds in 33 games for the Blue Devils.

The Phoenix Suns hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, and there’s a possibility that they will use it to select Bagley. That’s not a lock, but what’s virtually certain is that he’ll be among the first five names to be taken off the board.
