Despite missing half-a-year because of a back injury, Michael Porter Jr. of Missouri believes he's still the best player in the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft.

As reported by Nick Friedell of ESPN, Porter Jr. said that his fellow prospects are good, but he is confident that he is the better than them:

“I know without a doubt that I'm the — I played against all these guys, they're all great players — but I'm the best player in this draft,” Porter said. “And I just can't wait to show what I'm capable of.”

“I played against all these guys,” Porter Jr. said. “I know they've obviously gotten better. They're all great players. I'm not taking anything away from them. That's just how I feel. I feel like everybody will know that soon.”

Porter also shared that he's met with several NBA teams including the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and LA Clippers. He is scheduled to meet with Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics.

He shared that his back has been a problem since high school — when he was regarded as a top prospect by analysts. It may be a concern for some. But according to Porter Jr., his back has fully healed and will allow all teams to view his medical records. Moving forward, it won't hamper his burgeoning professional basketball career:

‘[Doctors] said the [injury] site has healed fully,” he said. “I just got to keep up with my stretching, my core exercises. They think I should be fine.”
