NBA scouts are divided on whether LaMelo Ball will be a high lottery talent or not. Ball recently ended his season in Australia's National Basketball League after suffering a bone bruise in early December. He's believed to be fully healed, however, he made the decision to prepare for the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft.

During an interview with foxsports.com.au, an NBA Western Conference Scout expressed that he was unclear if Ball stands in the lottery.

“Honestly, I think it’s still unclear where he stands in the lottery.” “You’d think he’s a lock to be a lottery pick based on his pedigree, and while there were some highs and lows this year, he’s definitely shown how high level a talent he is.”

Ball played phenomenal in his 12 games with the Illawarra Hawks averaging 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.8 assists. He showed star potential during the season, however, there were some negatives to his game. He struggled as a shooter only shooting 37.7 percent from the field, and 25% from behind the arc this season.

“The priority during pre-draft workouts has to be the jumper,” a different Eastern Conference executive told foxsports.com.au. “It hasn’t been good. “He needs to re-jig the form before he starts working out with teams, if he does any workouts at all. If he can make teams feel more comfortable about that, then he’d be in a great spot.”

Despite his shooting, LaMelo Ball led the team to three wins when he was in the lineup. In the upcoming months, we'll see whether taking the NBL route was a success for the 18-year-old.
