The Sacramento Kings are perhaps the biggest wild card in this upcoming NBA Draft, now reportedly “strongly weighing” drafting Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr. with their second overall pick, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

This very fact can put Porter right where he was pre-injury, as he was previously considered a top-two pick before he committed to the University of Missouri.

Porter's stock dropped into a top-10 prospect after a back injury kept him out of most of his lone college season, but he's managed to turn heads with his play during the NBA Draft Combine and his first pro day in front of teams picking in that range.

Having canceled his second pro day last Wednesday after sustaining hip spasms, that has done little to deter teams' eagerness of taking a closer look at him — an athletic talent boasting athleticism with some fundamental maturity.

Rival teams are expecting Sacramento to pull the trigger rather quickly, with more and more teams becoming increasingly interested in the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Porter.

An NBA-ready body and a barrage of attributes have made him a player of deep interest, now likely a top-five prospect after his camp was open to having teams bring their own medical staff to examine him after his latest setback — a refreshing and re-assuring display of transparency.
