The Los Angeles Lakers could be en route to getting another gem through the draft, now potentially promised to nab Maryland Terrapins guard/forward Kevin Huerter off the board with the No. 25 overall pick, according to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated.

The Lakers had been previously linked to Mitchell Robinson, but it seems like there has been a recent change of mind.

Huerter was previously slated to be a second-round option, but he opened plenty of eyes during his initial workout at the NBA Draft Combine, showing an array of NBA-ready shooting prowess that made him undoubtedly the best pure shooter available.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Huerter has the ability to move in and out of screens efficiently, as well as being a threat driving the ball, which has clearly elevated his stock to a late first-round selection.

Huerter recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his shooting hand, sidelining him for two months.

This setback isn't expected to deter his standing with NBA front offices, after impressing with his play and with his attitude during interviews.

Huerter could give the Lakers something they have badly needed over the last few seasons, which is consistent shooting — and while he's not expected to be a star in this league, he could set himself to be a great role player, helping Los Angeles in an area of need.

The Maryland product scored 14.8 points per game during his sophomore season with the Terrapins, making 50.3 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from deep, and 75.8 percent from the foul line.
