With his team in dire need of reinforcements, Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant played in Game 5 of the NBA Finals after rehabbing a calf injury. Durant was not at 100 percent and ended up injured yet again, this time perhaps more seriously. Former NBA player Jalen Rose explained that while it was a respectable move to attempt to come back early, it was a bad idea in the end:

Rose makes the point that it is nearly impossible to go from not playing for almost a month to competing in the best league in the world in the highest stakes game of the year. Durant had no time to slowly acclimate back into the series; he was thrown straight into the midst of things. Unfortunately, it resulted in what the Warriors fear is an Achilles tear.

If the injury is indeed an Achilles tear, Durant could miss most or all of next season, a huge blow to the league. The New York Knicks can't feel too good about the situation either.

In Kevin Durant's defense, it's hard to turn down the NBA Finals. Some players go their whole careers without even making one. It makes sense why Durant rushed his way back, especially with his team down. Now, all we can do is hope that the injury is not as bad as it seems and wish KD a speedy recovery.
