For the first time in franchise history, the Toronto Raptors had to go on the road in the NBA Finals. Of course, that makes sense since this is the first Finals appearance for the team ever – so everything they do in this Finals is a first.

However, the team came under scrutiny for a social media post the team debuted ahead of the matchup on Wednesday night. Here is the post in question:

Looks pretty innocuous, right? It shows the Raps on the Golden Gate bridge in… San Francisco, California… which is not where the Warriors play their home games.

Though this was a valiant effort by the Raptors social media team, they absolutely heard it from snarky Warriors fans as well as various media types that know that the bridge that the Raps were looking for was the Bay Bridge rather than the iconic Golden Gate bridge – one of California’s most recognizable landmarks.

Here’s Marc Spears of ESPN, who provided some travel tips if they had indeed just come across Golden Gate:

Kelenna Azubuike of NBC Sports Bay Area offered up less snark and more facts about it by outlining which bridge the Raps actually needed to take to make it to Oracle Arena:

After a brutal loss in Game 2, Phin Barnes explained just how far away the two bridges are in (while also tossing in a dig at the Raps before Game 3 even began):

This was a tough way to start Game 3, but perhaps the Raptors can bounce back from their social media team’s foibles. Still though, the internet never forgets.
