Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expects All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson to play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday.

Thompson missed Game 3, the first career playoff game he didn't play in. The Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors and now trail the best of seven series 2-1.

The Warriors should probably offer Thompson that five-year max contract extension now. Game 3 showed how important Thompson is to the team's success.

Friday is a must-win game for the Warriors. They can't afford to go down 3-1 with Game 5 set to be played back in Toronto. Getting Thompson back for Game 4 is a huge step in the right direction for the Dubs, who are still going to be without superstar small forward Kevin Durant.

In the 2019 playoffs, Thompson has been his usual stellar self. He’s averaging 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists and shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from beyond the arc and 89.7 percent from the free-throw line. The Warriors got 47 points from star point guard Stephen Curry in Game 3. The next highest scorer on the team was power forward Draymond Green, who had 17.

Thompson likely won't be at 100 percent in Game 4, but his presence and gravity on the floor will no doubt be beneficial for the Warriors.
