A pretty big substory in the wake of Kevin Durant's devastating Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals is the reaction of Toronto Raptors fans when they saw KD go down.

The crowd at Scotiabank Arena immediately cheered once Durant crumpled to the floor holding his right Achilles in the second quarter, with many fans waving goodbye to Durant.

Numerous Raptors players, most notably Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry, had to tell the crowd to quiet down, expressing obvious disapproval at what was a truly disgusting response from the fans.

After the game, Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins ripped the Toronto fans, calling their reaction “trash”

“Trash,” said Cousins, via ESPN. “So trash. We’re only idolized as superstar athletes, not human beings. It’s always about what we can do between those lines. That’s it. That’s all that ever matters.”

Cousins also said that the crowd's response was “bogus,” according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

Cousins' anger is completely justified, as rooting for injuries is entirely classless and was unquestionably a bad look for a Raptors fanbase that has not been historically known for doing so.

The 28-year-old, who suffered a torn Achilles himself last season and also sustained a torn quad earlier in these playoffs, ended up finishing with 14 points and six rebounds. He made six of his eight field-goal attempts in what ended up being a narrow win for the Warriors in Game 5.

Game 6 of the NBA Finals will be at Oracle Arena on Thursday evening.
